We host regular charity events to raise money and awareness for many different charities.
In 2020, Royal Holloway Hockey raised a total of £4,443 for a variety of deserving charities via a plethora of innovative and successful campaigns. For example, before term began we raised £2090 for Show Racism the Red Card and the Steven Lawrence Foundation as our members ran, walked or cycled a total of 5,038 miles over the course of a month. Central fundraisers were supported by team-led efforts, including £1039 raised for Women’s Aid, a campaign to end gender-based violence, whilst £1314 was raised for the charity Movember.
In a time when charities need more support than ever, the club recognises its social responsibility to promote the work of deserving causes. To this end, we endeavour to arrange inclusive events, aiming for about a £1 donation per player to take part. Regular charity events, as well as unexpected crises, will be supported by club collaboration and fundraising pages. We will support those facing a challenge whilst Club participation and unity increase.
Winning the prestigious Charity Crest from Royal Holloway’s Student Union at Colours’ Ball last year certainly reflects the Club’s strong record of both raising funds for commendable causes and promoting awareness of meaningful matters. With your support, we can continue this excellent record.
