Along with playing Hockey, Charity is something we hold very close to our hearts. Each year our teams take the initiative and help give back to those in need.
The British Legion
To start the year, we sold Poppy Socks within the club and externally through October and November. From this we raised £350 for The Royal British Legion.
As well as this, in November our Men’s 2nd Team raised an incredible £660, which is almost double their original goal, through the Movember campaign, raising money for Men’s health issues, like prostate cancer and mental health.
This Girl Campaign
We also hosted a joint tournament between the ladies 2s and men’s 2s, to raise money and awareness for the Movember campaign and the This Girl Can campaign. Through December our ladies’ teams worked together to fill 20 shoe boxes for the Love in a Box campaign, making sure that children in poverty received gifts at Christmas.
Starting off 2020 in a massive way our ladies 2s headed a campaign selling rainbow laces and painting rainbows on their faces at matches to raise money and awareness for Stonewall, and their campaign to reduce the stigma of LGBTQ+ people in sport, collecting a total of £180.
As well as all of this we have run a tuck shop at tournaments and matches, a charity pub quiz in partnership with Crosslands and charity raffles at our Christmas and End of Season dinner, that have raised over £150 for Young Minds.
